Minor Injury and Illness Service
About the service at Lyme Regis Medical Centre
Lyme Bay Medical Practice ‘Minor Injury and Illness Service’ is a nurse led service for minor injuries and illness which you cannot treat yourself. The nurses have undergone additional training in both minor Injury and Illness.
The service is available from 8.00am – 6.30pm Monday until Friday and 9.00am - 12.00pm every Saturday at Lyme Regis Medical Centre. An appointment is not necessary but we would urge you to contact us beforehand on 01297 445777 or 01297 445770.
We do not have X-Ray facilities, so if there is any likelihood of broken bones, concussion or severe wounds, please call 111.
Important information about the service
- Please do not arrive at the surgery before calling us. Walk-in appointments are not available.
- The last appointments slots offered at these clinics are 30 minutes before closing, that is 6pm on weekdays and 11.30 am on Saturdays.
Please consider visiting your local pharmacist. Pharmacists can also provide a whole range of services including free advice, support and guidance on all your health problems.

- Minor cuts/grazes/lacerations
- Minor burns and scalds
- Dressing care
- Minor trauma to hands, limbs and feet – sprains & strains
- Removal of foreign bodies
- Superficial eye injury
- Minor skin infections/rashes
- Stomach upsets
- Coughs, colds and flu like symptoms
- Insect Stings & Bites
- Other common illness
What we can’t help with (and therefore you should call 111 or 999):
- Children under one year old
- Major burns/scalds
- Accidental ingestion/poisoning
- Loss of consciousness
- Penetrating eye injury
- Severe ankle/leg/ foot pain/swelling
- Chest pain/Breathing difficulties
- Major injuries
- Severe allergic reaction
- Deep cuts/lacerations
- Impacted foreign bodies
- Overdoses
- Alchohol related problems
- Mental health problems
- Conditions likely to require hospital admission
